Dear Parents,

Thursday’s tragedy has certainly had an impact on the students and staff of our school.  In a community as close as ours, we never fully realize just how much we touch each other’s lives.  I wanted to let you know what we have done to support your children and possibly offer some suggestions for you.  We began our day with a moment of silence and eliminated our Song of the Day.  Teachers were prepared to answer basic student questions or concerns.  Mrs. Madorna, our School Psychologist and Miss Carney, our Guidance Counselor continue to be available for any students needing to talk or share feelings.  Along with this, we have two boxes available for students to leave cards and writings.  I have also attached an information sheet for parents offering suggestions to help children who have experienced trauma.  My belief has always been that the best resource for a child is his or her parents.

As always, each and every one of us is available to help our students and families during this time of need.  If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call me.  Together we will find strength.
